YoungHeart: Adolescence as initiation and threshold space

What I offer

I offer exploration of self that sits outside of the mainstream mental health system. I offer a holding space for emergence beyond pathology and diagnosis. We co create meaning and deeper pathways to anchoring who your young person is and who they are becoming.

Home as an internal landmark

The inner anchor to self is becoming an increasingly rare commodity in today’s influencer laden, dopamine addicted modern world. How can we manage/harness big, rich and sometimes confusing internal experiencing as well as navigate and empower ourselves amongst powerful external forces?

I work with teens in art making/expression finding ways that supports embodied knowing, anchoring and trusting self. My scope of practice offers alternative approaches to traditional talk therapy for gentle, yet profound explorations of self; where the emerging self is held and nurtured.

Book a discovery call

I love working with teenagers.

It is a the threshold space between childhood and adolesence (click here for my take on initiation and threshold spaces)

It brings the energy of polarities. Possibility and apprehension. Innocence and knowing. Loss and finding yourself.

From a soul perspective, Steiner speaks of this threshold space as a metaporphosis; when the spirit emancipates itself from the soul. As the spirit separates more from the soul, we leave the close connection and imprints from the imaginative realm of childhood to seek logical manifestations of these imprints. Steiner speaks of adolescence as the time where we draw from the Treasure Chambers created in childhood to bring the picture from our nourished soul life of childhood into the thinking/cognitive realm.

I love the idea of Treasure Chambers being created during childhood and things we can draw upon. And I like to think that no matter how solidly or otherwise these Treasure Chambers were formed, we can create them as we go.

It is an honour to witness and work with young people during this metamorphosis and threshold space. For a teenager to be witnessed and acknowleded in this space offeresd an empowering sense of being seen and heard.
